Dear Friends,
As Founder and Spiritual Leader of this exciting new ministry, I bless you on your journey and hope you check us out. My very first Unity church was a pioneered ministry and I found it to be one of the most creative processes I ever experienced.
Let me tell you a little about myself. I have been a Unity Truth student since 1997 and have served in almost every possible capacity in four Unity churches in Texas, Florida and Illinois.
I studied onsite at Unity Village on ten occasions over a ten-year period, to ultimately become licensed as a credentialed leader. I was enormously blessed with the opportunity to lead Unity Church on the North Shore in Evanston, Illinois in 2008 when it was between ministers. During that time, the church experienced a tremendous surge in energy and prosperity. It was abundantly clear to me that God was calling me forth to minister a church. After much time in prayer and meditation, I listened, and I saw that each step of my entire Unity journey had uniquely prepared me to pioneer a new church. I answered the call with a resounding "Yes!"
I am also an ordained Interfaith Minister. I immersed myself academically and experientially in the major world faith traditions at One Spirit Interfaith Seminary in New York City. That experience provided even more clarity on my own faith, exposed me to the importance of ritual and ceremony, and enhanced my understanding of the unity of the many paths to God. We may be traveling different roads with different equipment, but we are all on our way to complete Self-realization.
Furthermore, I also have a solid background in business. My educational background is in engineering [BSChE from Purdue] and I had a 20-year career in the energy business. Business planning, budgeting, visioning, cost-control, working with people, etc. are all a part of the fabric of my being! These attributes are required to operate and grow a successful ministry.
As for my personal life, I have four main passions:
First, my family. I have been married for 30 years to my husband, Greg Harbaugh, and we have three wonderful daughters. Greg has always supported me fully in every one of my life endeavors [from getting my pilot's license to bringing home puppies and stray cats to starting this church] and has been a source of amazing life adventures. Our family is very close and we love being together.
Second, animals. I am an advocate for animals - all of them - and I include them in my circle of compassion. I have been a vegetarian since I was 15 years old.
Third, personality systems. I am qualified in Myers Briggs (MBTI) and also teach Enneagram workshops. This is part of the spiritual path - to know oneself. These systems are just a couple that can help us see ourselves, what we are and what we are not.
Lastly, I love movies. They are our modern way of telling stories and tapping into our archetypal energies.
As with each of you, God is leading me toward higher levels of understanding and I am listening with spiritual discernment, knowing that the perfect path is unfolding for this new church. I look forward to meeting you!
With Abundant Blessings,
Carol
